Hear this, all ye transit-minded people in St. Louis: tomorrow evening the Missouri Transporation Alliance (MTA) is holding a public input forum on the future of the state’s transportation system. The meeting will take place from Thursday, July 16 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Velocity Cafe (map here) near the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink station.
A coalition of transportation stakeholders, the Missouri Transit Alliance formed to advocate for future Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) funding as well as to “inform the public about Missouri’s current transportation situation and seek input on the regional priorities that should be considered in developing a new vision.” They have been holding these public forums across the state which include a 15 minute presentation, followed by a 45-minute question and answer session.
In light of a future 60% funding cut for MoDOT, setting priorities will be very critical as both a challenge and an opportunity for Missourians to lay out goals for a transportation system–one that includes public transit and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. Please come to the meeting and help us define your priorities for the future of Missouri transportation.
